Fund-raising through running. It is a brilliant and healthy way to raise money for NeST

CPRC stands for Chineham Park Running Club, a team of enthusiastic members who run charity races on behalf of NeST. One of the founding members Philip Branigan set up both the running club and a donation page to help his niece Emma Cope who suffers from NS.
The downside of trying to organise large runs, like marathons, is the extortionate amount of money charged for bond places, Philip has argued until he is blue in the face with companies who run such events that they are profiteering out of the goodwill of dedicated charity runners, but unfortunately it has all fallen on deaf ears.
So, Philip with agreement from his team has decided to target less public events that they can just enter online by themselves and do their own publicity for. So far this has worked out well. The group did the Brighton Marathon this year, it cost them £30 each to enter, which is reasonable and they have managed to raise over £400 in donations.
Philips' advice to anyone who wants to raise funds running is:
1. Contact the event organiser, see if you can buy just a normal place, not a bond.
2. Use people power, as a group, when 5 to 10 of us all enter at the same time, we get noticed by the event organisers, ask for a mention in any pre-race emails or publications.
3. Get advice from your local clubs. I approached Basingstoke and Mid Hants Athletics Club before starting all my charity running and they gave me great advice on potential pitfalls and tips and tricks to get yourself noticed, including training plans and diet advice.
Philip is more than happy to help out anyone who is considering running to raise funds. He can be contacted by email, or you can visit the clubs web page.
